VU Central Library, Nashville, TN

Description:

The Central Library Building at Vanderbilt University underwent renovations to more than 30,000 square feet of space on four floors.

Work to the facility included extensive millwork, new study areas, new classrooms, a café’, outdoor patio, and new galleries highlighting Vanderbilt Special Collections.

The project was awarded Gold Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council, the first to achieve this rating on the Vanderbilt campus.

The “green” renovations started with recycling of 75—80 percent of the demolition waste.  The installation of 30 percent more efficient lights, an Encelium lighting control system, dual flush/low flow restroom fixtures, and a high efficiency variable flow refrigerant HVAC system all earned credits toward the certification.
