Who has most influenced your career path?
My father and brother
both influenced me and taught me so much about construction. They were
both construction men and had a lot of experience to share with me...there
wasn't much they had not dealt with on projects.
Where
do you see yourself 5 years from now??
I see myself
still here working. I have no plans to retire. It might be nice
to take a little more time to play with my grandkids, but Orion has
been a major part of my life for over 26 years and I can't see slowing down
much.
Which project you have been associated with
has taught you the most about construction?
I started out
at the age of 15, working summers until I graduated. Then I went
straight into construction full time. I started as a laborer and
worked my way up. I have been very fortunate to have worked on a great
variety of projects and worn a great many different hats. Each project
is different, but I can truly say I've learned something from them all.
Share one of
your favorite memories about Orion and/or its employees
There are a
lot, but one thing in particularly comes to mind. I got a phone call
from a lawyer that had an office across the street from one of our projects.
You can imagine what I was thinking. So, reluctantly, I took his
call. He said that he had been watching the project from his office window
for over 8 months and just wanted me to know what a great job our crane
operator, Kelvin Easton, had been doing. He was obviously a hard
worker keeping busy, when not making lifts for the project, by cleaning the
site and maintaining the crane. His work ethic was very apparent in his
daily activities.
Now, that's the kind of phone
call you love to get !
What is your idea of an ideal weekend?
Good weather, time spent with my family, and
a rodeo thrown in for good measure.

Tim Luppe is
a man with many “layers.” His interests are as varied as the
projects he has been associated with in his 20+ years in
construction. Projects such as the Parthenon, Chapel of the
Apostles in Sewanee, the Ann Scott Carrel Library at The Harpeth
Hall School, and the Vanderbilt Eye Institute are all representative
of Tim’s diverse abilities as a Project Manager.
His idea of an ideal weekend? "I really like to take the motor
home to a place with lots of trees and a few hungry fish. I
have gotten over the expectation that our granddaughter might join
us, so a long weekend with Maureen is about as good as it gets."
